Nerantzi 2023 Macedonia Assyrtiko

From Northern Macedonia near the border with Bulgaria, lying at an altitude of 300 meters in the foothills of Mount Menoikio on calcareus sandy loam.  More importantly is what lies hidden within the soil: layer upon layer of ancient pottery where the vineyards are planted! One could say that part of the domaine's terroir is the patrimonial history of Greece itself. 100% Assyrtiko fermented and aged in stainless steel. For lovers of mineral Chablis with structure underpinned by streaks of minerality and acidity. Flashing pale gold, the nose reveals aromas of citrus, apples, white flowers and wet rocks. The palate reveals notes of lemon yogurt with a mineral  backbone and  juicy acidity. The 2023 has a surprisingly low alcohol level of 12.5% making it extremely food friendly;  a very long lived finish just begs for some grilled lobster, octopus or swordfish as well as white meats . GH
