(Arrives 11/12) "Thierry Faravel (of La Bouïssière ) continues to craft outstanding wines marked by balance and longevity from steep, high-elevation vineyards in Gigondas." Composed of 75 percent Grenache and 25 percent Syrah and vinified nearly all on whole cluster fruit, this wine showcases the defining qualities of a southern blend that benefits from older vines grown at high altitude, aged in foudre and tank. Its character — juicy, vibrant, fresh, harmonious, with refined, integrated tannins — sets it apart from other heavier, more tannic wines of the region. The 2021 vintage beautifully showcases the elegant and vibrant quality of this wine: "the bouquet is a bright opening on plums, incense and spice, raspberry liqueur, sweet herbs, sage present. The palate debut is fine, holds white pepper clad red fruits; there is a close link between nose and palate – both are “up” in tone, and it has lots of fruit appeal and drive on the palate. The close holds powdered tannins, with late spearmint clarity and chalking.  This is cracking Gigondas that will live, is a very true wine of terroir that has really captured local qualities. “It will age extremely well, perhaps better than 2020 and 2022,” says winemaker Thiérry Faravel. (with notes from Vinous and drinkrhone)
