Jobard, Claudie 2022 Rully "La Chaume"

Claudie Jobard makes this lovely wine from 50 - 60 year-old vines on a south-east facing slope of pebbly clay/limestone soils near the Chateau de Rully in the Côte Chalonnaise between Mercurey and Bouzeron. Organic farming. A bit darker color than the 2021, with beautiful aromas of ripe morello cherry, roast meat, earth, violet, blood orange - really lovely. The palate is dense and chalky, with lush cherry and black plum fruit, with minerals and spice. The finish is long, with lingering red and black fruits, earth and minerals. A serious Burgundy at a moderate price that should open up beautifully with age - drink now with a decant or cellar 5 to 8 years
