Beginning in 2018, David Duband set out to work with new appellations as well as experiment with new methods in the cellar such as concrete egg aging and sulfur free fermentation and vinification. He named the new label ‘Les Terres de Phileandre’ after his two daughters, Philomene and Leandre.
After direct press and settling, wines are vinified 50% inox and 50% foudres with indigenous yeast fermentation. They are then aged for 10 months in 50% tank and 50% foudres before being blended in tank and aged an additional 3 months before bottling without fining or filtration. Vines here are 50 years old and located in the Hautes-Cotes-de Nuits on clay-limestone soils. The nose is vibrant with white flowers and orchard fruits. The wine is beautifully balanced with a hint of a waxy texture with medium body and brightness on the finish.
