Mathouans 2022 Vin de France Vinception

The Mathouans "Vinception" is from 100% Grenache Noir grown on schistes, yields were 25 hl/ha in 2018. The grapes are fermented in large tronconic vats, lightly foot-pressed, then aged for 12 months in 500 liter barrels. The wine shows ripe red fruits with hints of chocolate and a round supple palate balanced with soft tannins. Perhaps the most "natural" tasting of the wines, mostly due to a touch of volatile acidity on the nose that does not carry on the palate, but does give a wild side to the aromas.
