2025s from Julian Haart and Weiser-Künstler
2025s from Julian Haart and Weiser-Künstler
I am incredibly excited to introduce the first arrivals of the 2025 vintage from Germany with the wines of two of our favorite producers in the Mosel: Julian Haart and Weiser-Künstler. The 2025 growing season began early and was vigorous. Fortunately the late frosts of 2024 did not occur! The summer was warm and sunny which pushed development early, some rain required very close monitoring of grape health but those who paid close attention were rewarded with incredible fruit. Harvest was on average earlier than normal, but most brought grapes in with great physiological ripeness. In the Mosel, yields were 10-20% lower than average so not the best news, but the grapes harvested were of the best quality: intense aromas with fine acidity and excellent balance. At early stages, the wines have shown promise of clarity and tension, winemakers are already noting how it is a vintage with great aging potential. I am excited to continue to tasting the 2025s which are clearly on track to be another stunner of a vintage, albeit with less quantity than ideal.
It seemed almost natural to offer out these wines side by side, as two of the original four producers that our friends at Vom Boden first imported, both of these husband-and-wife duos do almost everything on their own and by hand. They make some of the most insane Rieslings around and we are very excited to have the newest vintage here. With the lower yields, we are seeing slightly more limited quantities from these two than we have received in the past, so I recommend snagging some of these now as they will not hang around for too long.
