Spotlight on Cheverny, featuring Philippe and Simon Tessier, and More!

Cheverny, Cour-Cheverny and Vins de France from Philippe and Simon Tessier!

The eastern Touraine, and more specifically a golden triangle between Cheverny, Mareuil-sur-Cher and Les Montils, as well as both banks of the Cher, have become one of the most important centers in France for the rebirth of true, living wines. Philippe and Simon have been a force in this movement, as well as one of the main players in the recognition of Cour-Cheverny and the preservation of Romorantin since 1981. The Tessiers are making soulful wines, true to their terroir.  The wines are both complex and easy to drink which is not easy to achieve. (And they are made more beautifully enjoyable by the minimal or zero use of SO2!)

Quality at this dynamic estate seems to improve every year and we are happily taking whatever we can get our hands on, but sadly, that's only 6 to 48 btls of each wine. These will sell-out quickly so don't delay!

Hervé Villemade relaxes...

Hervé Villemade. The delicious natural wines of Hervé Villemade have graced our shelves since the 2008 vintage, joining those of the Clos du Tue Boeuf, the Clos Roche Blanche and many others from the beautiful vineyards of the Loir et Cher. "Since I began visiting the Loire Valley in 2011, I have always held high esteem for Hervé Villemade. He is a focused, professional winemaker, and an open-minded and fun-loving colleague and friend. His wines have both defined and defied the Cheverny appellation for me, teaching me of tradition and then occasionally throwing it out the window." - EL.  Don't miss the 2021 Cour-Cheverny "Domaine" - it's a vibrant and distinctive Romorantin from this difficult low-yielding vintage.
Pierre-Olivier Bonhomme is best known for his insanely delicious and affordable Vin de France Gamay "Le Telquel," but Pierre-O makes a wide range of superb and distinctive wines from Pineau d'Aunis, Menu Pineau, Meslier, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir, Cot, Romorantin, Chardonnay and Sauvingnon Blanc (!) as well. His Pineau D'Aunis "La Boissiere" is particularly delicious in 2022!

Speaking of Pineau D'Aunis, be sure to try the Domaine de la Roche Bleue 2022 "Belle D' Aunis" - OK it's not from Cheverny, but it's quite beautiful and very refreshing...
