Private Collection: Huet 1921 - 2022

We're proud to offer an outstanding collection of Vouvrays from Domaine Huet, from 1921 to 2003, from the cellar of a good friend and true connoisseur. These are among the greatest wines of the Loire Valley - and of the world - from an estate that played an important role in the development of French wine law and traditions. The wines of Domaine Huet are known throughout the world and this collection contains some of the estate's finest wines from historic older vintages as well as superb values from more recent years. (Please note: the 1921 and 1924 offered today were made by Charles Massé and passed into Victor Huet's possession when he bought the house and vineyards at "Le Haut Lieu." At the time, Poniatowski, Foreau and Pinon were the most important producers).

Gaston Huet took over the estate in 1934, and after 5 years as a prisoner-of-war, walked across France to return to the estate. Gaston became Mayor of Vouvray in 1947 and in the 1950s, acquired the "Le Mont" and "Clos du Bourg" vineyards. His daughter Marie-Francoise married Noel Pinguet in 1968, who took over the reins from his father-in-law in 1976. Pinguet converted the estate to Biodynamic farming and remained as winemaker under new owner Anthony Hwang until 2012.
