Cha-bliss - End of Summer Chablis Sale!
8/20/2024
We didn't want to be the ones to declare it the End of Summer, but what the heck... it is late August already. We'll likely still have some warm weeks in September, as the Fall doesn't really kick in as quickly as it used to, so why not stretch out the Summer vibes with some bottles of Chablis!? We already had an inkling that we should round up some bottles and offer them, and then our 2022 allocation of Moreau-Naudet arrived, so we've thrown together a tempting collection of bottles. Today through tomorrow (Tuesday 8/20-Wednesday 8/21), or until supplies last, gorge yourselves on 10% off all of these bottles, and a whopping 20% off on any 12 or more bottles from this offer!
Domaine de l'Enclos is 29 hectares of organically farmed vines (Ecocert certification) on the 4 levels of the Chablis designation and notably on some of the most beautiful terroirs of the vineyards.
Romain and Damian Bouchard made wine for years at their family estate, Domaine Pascal Bouchard, then sold the family name and winery midway through the previous decade and retained just shy of thirty hectares of prime vineyard land to create Domaine de L'Enclos. They established a new winery in an old château in the middle of town and promptly set about getting organic certification for the estate.
In their own words: "We perpetuate with gratitude the know-how of our ancestors Amand and Cléophas Tremblay, our grandparents Gabrielle and André Tremblay and our parents Joëlle and Pascal Bouchard, who have planted, cultivated and finally passed on these vineyards for nearly a hundred years. Our desire: To express each of these terroirs with simple, respectful and unpretentious practices, both in the vineyard and in the cellar." - Romain and Damian Bouchard
We have been following the wines from Moreau-Naudet here at Chambers Street for several vintages. Stephane Moreau took over the estate from his father in 1999 and over the next two decades he made a series of changes, converting to organic viticulture, fermenting only with native yeasts and harvesting by hand. The result was a range of truly outstanding Chablis, wines with great texture, precision and a sense of place. Stephane passed away suddenly in 2016 and his wife Virginie has taken over the domaine's management. She continues to grow and vinify her wines according to the same principles and the results are no less enchanting. I know that I will be able to look to these wines now and years in the future as a source of the same magic that I found in that bottle of Raveneau once upon a time.
