Back by Popular Demand: Pierre Boisson Hautes-Cotes de Beaune 'La Chemin de Pierre'

8/11/25 -

Back in January we were introduced to an incredible new bottling from the Boisson family and our enthusiasm for this beautiful White Burgundy was mirrored by all of you! We kept the 2022 vintage on the shelf for as long as we could but it didn't stick around very long. When the 2023 arrived in New York we wasted no time at all to try it and confirm that it is just as good as last year!

The vines for this wine are in the village of Nantoux which is just above Pommard in the Hautes-Cotes. Pierre saw huge potential in this two-hectare plot that had never previously been planted, yet contains excellent rocky, limestone soils. Planted in 2016, the 2023 is the second vintage of this wine which I am inclined to call it one of (if not) the best value in white burgundies right now. After harvest, the wines are fermented (both alcoholic and malolactic) in barrel. They are then aged for 19 months in barrels, and are racked after 15 months on the lees. The resulting wine has a beautiful nose with a hint of reduction. Strong minerality and ripe lemon follow with a lovely, long salty finish. This Burgundy is perfectly in balance with excellent freshness and stunning concentration and it drinks like a much more expensive wine!

For those who are less familiar with the Domaine, there has been a cult following in the New York wine scene for the many labels from the Boisson family: Boisson-Vadot, Pierre Boisson, and Anne Boisson. Different names aside, today the wines are collaboratively produced and bottled in the family’s cellar in Meursault with Anne and Pierre at the helm and their father Bernard keeping a watchful eye. Similarly, with the move into the younger generation, the style has stayed consistent within the Domaine with racy white wines that are terroir driven, with a light hand when it comes to new wood in the cellar.

If you have always wondered what the "big deal" is surrounding Burgundy this wine will begin to showcase what makes the region so special. For those who already love White Burgundy then get ready to be blown away by the concentration and finesse from this wine that is anything but "entry level." We are going to be bringing in a lot of this wine as we think it is set to become a new weeknight staple for so many of you!
