2018 David Duband Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru Clos Sorbe

6/16/25 -

As many of you have probably gathered already, I love a good deal, especially when it comes to Burgundy and today's offer is NO JOKE! It is not every day when we can bring enough of a wine to send out offers such as these, but it is also not every day when we can offer premier cru red Burgundy from the Cote d'Or with bottle age for under $100! What would normally be $120, we have marked down to $99.99 so grab a bottle (or more) while you can.

David Duband took over his family's domaine in 1991, and by 1999 he moved from conventional farming and began his journey to organic certification. In 2005, David's business partner managed to buy vineyards from Jacky Truchot (Clos Sorbe was part of that purchase!). Just a few years later marked a significant wine making adjustment, 2008 was the first vintage where his wines became less extracted, and much brighter. He began including stems and a more gentle approach to winemaking. This style has continued today.

Clos Sorbe is a fantastic Premier Cru in Morey-Saint-Denis located just East, down the slope from the Grand Crus of the village, specifically, Clos des Lambrays. The vines are on average 50 years-old with Eastern exposure on limestone soils. Grapes are all hand picked and sorted. The wine is made with 70% whole clusters. After pressing the wine is settled for 2 weeks before being placed in barrels. It is then aged for 13 months in 40% new barrels, the remainder are between 1-5 years old. After, they are rested for 3 months in vats before being bottled without fining or filtration.

The resulting wine is one of beautiful aromatics of raspberry, strawberry, and red currant, there is a mineral complexity layered with black tea and violets. With 5+ years in bottle this is in a place that can be enjoyed now or will continue to age well!
