Ferme de L'Yonnière (Jerome Forget) NV Poire Aperitif Pyrus
"Pyrus is a blend of freshly pressed pear juice with Domfrontais Calvados. Then it remains for a few months in stainless steel vats before going into barrels. 'Pyrus Cordata' is the name of the wild pear tree. This pretty name inspired me to “baptize” this cuvee." Luscious green pear aromas with white flowers waft from the glass whilst the body is viscous yet bright with a pop of lemon zest in addition to the juicy pear and caramel flavours. As an aperitif, I would suggest serving it, as traditionally done with Pineau de Charentes in the summertime at seaside resorts like La Roche Sur Yonne and La Rochelle, as a spritz with seltzer or Cremant de Loire and lemon juice/garnish.
