Dard & Ribo 2023 Crozes-Hermitage Rouge 'Pé de Loup'
(One btl limit please) 50% 1989 Syrah, 50% 1950s Syrah from small gravel granite soils above kaolin soils at 220-250 metres on Pé du Loup at Larnage (northern sector, windy), whole bunch fermentation, aged used 600-litre oak cask 12 months, unfined, unfiltered. "quite a full red robe; there’s a peppery strike on the nose, an air of soaked, crushed red fruits, lit matches, it channels crispness. The palate presents direct dark red fruit, mulberry, builds in emphasis, carries firm fibrous tannins. This is SERIOUS, is a “don’t mess with me” wine, has vivid character, is like eating a just lit match, complex, only for the informed drinkers, not for the pavement strollers. “It always has firm, slightly rustic tannins, as opposed to the velvet tannins of Les Bâties,” F Ribo. From 2027, decant drink until 2042-44"
