Goiset, Pierre 2025 Vin de France La Mauguit
Pierre Goiset's superb 2025 "La Mauguit" is really a Muscadet, from 75 year-old Melon de Bourgogne vines on soils of orthogneiss and quartz in a parcel called "La Mauguitonniere" in Maisdon-sur-Sevre. The nose opens with great freshness, driven by vibrant notes of fresh citrus (lemon zest, pomelo) and an airy, almost balsamic menthol quality that adds dynamic energy. With aeration, the nose reveals white fruit characteristics (white peach, juicy pear), complemented by the terroir’s signature minerality. The palate is rich and voluminous, with a well-integrated sense of warmth that gives the wine texture and breadth without weighing it down. A dry white wine suited for fine dining—vinous, ripe, and deeply saline. Organic farming of course and minimal added SO2.
