Frascole 2022 Chianti Rufina
An easy pick to go with your weeknight spaghetti or parmigiana dinner! Frascole is a small, family run, organically farmed estate in Rufina, the smallest Chianti sub-zone, with high elevations giving it a nearly continental climate. This bottling is a majority of Sangiovese, from ~50-year-old vines, with just a few percentages of Canaiolo and Colorino blended in. The juice is fermented in steel and concrete tanks, and then 50% gets aged in oak for one year before being blended back into the tanks. A classic Chianti with ripe black cherry and tomato leaf on the nose with a palate of firm tannins and bright acidity.
"Old-timers" will remember the Frascole was always case-stacked at the front of the old shop, but there was no importer since the 2018 vintage (the last vintage we were selling). Finally, someone started importing the Frascole wines and we're delighted to have the delicious 2022 vintage on the shelf once again!
