Lafond 2024 Tavel Roc-Épine
Domaine Lafond is one of the leading estates in Tavel and makes an excellent Chateauneuf-du-Pape as well. The Tavel is made with 60% Grenache, 10-20% Cinsault, 0-5% Carignan, 5-20% Syrah, 0-10% split Clairette blanche, Picpoul, Bourboulenc, Mourvèdre (av age 40 years) from rocky, sandy & limestone/clay soils. "The 2024 shows a red-pink robe; the bouquet has depth, crushed red berries, raspberry present, more to offer and open. The palate links well, starts on a roll of agreeably rich, rolling content, is a good terroir wine, carries Tavel virtues of richness and persistence, is suited to spiced or Mediterranean dishes - will take those in its stride. It’s a good bundle of southern elements, well guided and genuine. 13°" (DrinkRhone) In other words, it's delicious, drink now through 2027.
