Viuva Gomes Viticultores 2022 Tinto

Viticultores is a blend of three distinctive non-sandy plots, the passion-project of our friends at Viúva Gomes in Colares. Located within the geographical area of the Colares wine-growing region, encompassing the towns of Colares, São João das Lampas and São Martinho, several grape growing families are the source for the fruit here, which comes from vines on majority clay and limestone terroir near the beaches of Colares.

From our friends at NLC Wines: "A blend of Ramisco, Molar, Castelão, Touriga Nacional, & Tinta Miúda, these grapes began spontaneous fermentation in stainless-steel vats. After 5 days on skins, the blend was transferred to chestnut and mahogany barrels (1500 L) and aged for 10 months. The result is a unique wine that has deep characteristics from the Colares region (dark fruit, salinity, beef/ferrous notes, menthol/eucalytpus) with a brightness and lift that screams Lisbon."
