Valfaccenda 2020 Roero Valmaggiore
Roero's sandy soils create wines of finesse and elegance. This special single vineyard called 'Valmaggiore' is very steep so Luca Faccenda and Carolina Roggero must do everything by hand! Valmaggiore was planted in 1947 and consists of the classic Roero sandy soils, but with a bit of limestone and clay mixed in.
After meticulous hand selection, the grapes are destemmed and carefully handled to maintain whole berries. The wine rests in large neutral casks for 12 months and then another 24 months of bottle aging before release. The resulting wine is lovely with roasted raspberries, sweet herbs, silky tannins, and a distinct note of cinnamon in the finish!
