Couvent 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Champonnet (Pre Arrival Fall 2026)

1er  Cru Champonnet is situated at the opening of the Lavaux Valley Just northeast of Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru. Couvent's holdings over 1.1 hectares across two plots making them the largest owners of Champonnet.The vines are between 30-60 years old. Harvested by hand and fully destemmed before a short cold maceration. Fermented with native yeast in cement tanks. Aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, with approx. 20-25% new oak. This wine was quite dark and brooding, really excellent, ripe dark cherry and plum with a nice balnace of spice and earth. Drink this for many years to come.
