Vignerons Les Matheny 2018 Arbois Chardonnay Vieilles Vignes

This is 100% Chardonnay from a small parcel of old-vines in Montigny-lès-Arsures (Puffeney’s home village, known affectionately as “The Capital of Trousseau”). It spends four years in barrel with no topping up, but despite the extended aging it does not read as an intensely oxidative style. There's pristine fruit, texture and great mineral depth with acid structure and a kiss of tannins. It's a beautiful Jura Chardonnay that is expressive and full of character, but won't scare off those who enjoy a more chiseled style.
