Loire Valley Wins Gold in the French Wine Olympics!

Friend of the shop Eric Asimov penned a whimsical little article for the New York Times recently, and we were delighted to see some familiar bottles in the lineup. We happened to have half of the wines from the article in stock when it came out, which has been known to happen thanks to our and Mr. Asimov's impeccable taste! The five wines we have from the NY Times article (including one Cahors from the Southwest) will top our list today, but we're also taking the opportunity to add more of our favorites from the Loire Valley, which took Gold in the article (with 4 of the 10 selections hailing from the Loire!). All of the wines share similar personality traits: they're unpretentious, low-intervention, pure-fruited and relatively light on their feet, meant for drinking now with friends and family while we sit on the edge of our seat watching records get beat!

Of note today is the return of the wines of Jean-Christophe Garnier, whom we wrote about a month ago, along with my personal favorite sparkling rosé from the Loire, the Villemade Bulle Rosé, and Pierre-Olivier Bonhomme's Thésée Sauvignon Blanc (availabe exclusively at Chambers Street Wines!). Also of note for fans of clean and delicious sparkling wines from the Loire Valley, the Crémant de Loire from Arnaud Lambert is a winner. It is one of the five NYT wines we have in stock and the value for the quality is undeniable!
