Jobard, Laguerre and Superb Summer Whites!
We've been enjoying the Côte Chalonnaise wines of Domaine Claudie Jobard for almost 20 years, which now includes the best plots of her family estate based in Pommard. Her whites from Rully and Montagny show fantastic purity and minerality, with the reds from Rully having perfectly balanced red and black fruits with earth and spice notes - they are beautifully made, delicious and affordable wines. Today's offer includes some of her tiny production from old-vine plots in Pommard, with a few bottles of the wonderful 1er Cru "Les Charmots" from vines that are 104 years-old! And we're very happy to have two whole cases of her brilliant Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru "Sous Fretilles" - this superb vineyard produces some of the most crystalline whites of Burgundy, and Claudie's 2022 is sensational!
Domaine Guillemot-Michel
Speaking of white Burgundy, our friend Jancis Robinson has just published "Sparkling and White Wines for Summer 2024" and her only Burgundy choice was the wonderful 2022 Guillemot-Michel Viré-Clessé "Quintaine:" "A white burgundy at last! And biodynamic to boot, showing that wild-flower thing that many biodynamic wines have. Pizzazz, glamour and quite a bargain for burgundy!" We have about 4 cases left, don't delay!
Mountain wines from Domaine Laguerre
Speaking of bargains, one of the greatest white wine values in the store has just returned in the new shipment from Domaine Laguerre in the Roussillon. The 2022 "Le Ciste Blanc" is a complex, and distinctive mountain wine made from from Marsanne, Roussanne, Rolle (Vermentino), Grenache Blanc and Maccabeu - it's breathtakingly vibrant and delicious - a perfect and wonderfully different summer white!
