Watson Ranch has become a source of some great Chardonnay fruit, with its coastal, cool climate and calcarious clay over limestone soils. There is always a deep mineral streak here, but enough sun to achieve full phenolic ripeness. This is a perfectly balanced wine, with texture, fruit, soaring acidity and a long mineral finish. Very much in an old-world style, it's a great reminder of how good California Chardonnay can be.
