Neumeister 2021 Grauburgunder 'Straden'

Hailing from Styria's Vulkanland (land of volcanoes) near the southeastern border with Slovenia and Hungary. Grown on very steep mountainous slopes imbued with marine sediment, spontaneously fermented in tank and aged for 6 months in old oak casks on the lees. Eschewing the grape's tendency towards opulence, the style is all chiseled minerality with a whiff of salinity and a whisper of breadth. Delightful notes of cool mountain forest, bitter melon & lemon zest. Yodelaydeehoo indeed! GH
