The Dauvissat 06's Are Here!
7/21/2008 -
In Chablis the estates of Raveneau and Dauvissat tower over all other producers. They make classically structured Chablis with the ability to age for up to twenty plus years. Acoording to his comments in Burghound, Vincent Dauvissat says his 2006's remind him of his 1989's, but better. Anybody who has had Les Clos or Preuses from 1989 can attest to the profundity of those wines. Dauvissat makes wine from two Grand Cru sites, Les Clos and Les Preuses, and also from the three excellent 1er Cru sites, Forest, Sechet and Vaillons. 2006 was a ripe vintage in Burgundy but up north in Chablis the wines were not as extreme and ripe as the wines from the Cote de Beaune. They are not classic per se, but do have wonderful levels of purity, fruit and flinty minerality. They will drink well young but will have considerable aging potential. These are beauties and a vintage not to be dismissed for all of you Dauvissat collectors out there. For anyone who wants to test the waters of Dauvissat this is a perfect vintage as it is not youthfully austere like 2000 or 2002 which are still not accessible. These are extremely limited. There will also be a discount on a mixed case.
