Chantal Lescure 2021 Volnay

The Chantal Lescure Volnay is from 50+ year-old vines on sandy clay soils over limestone. There is a long, slow fermentation with wild yeasts in cuve inox followed by 18 months in barrel, approximately 20% of which are new (500L), bottled without fining or filtration. The old vines did their job in 2021, bringing lovely earthy and floral cherry/raspberry aromas. The palate is surprisingly round and ripe in this cool vintage - this is showing beautifully as a young wine but of course 3 to 5 years of cellaring will open it further, enjoy until 2035+.
