(Arrival expected July 16th) First produced in 1988, this great Muscadet is made from a three hectare parcel of old massale-selection vines (all over 60 years old, with a high percentage much older) on a slope above the Maine. The bedrock is Granite de Château Thébaud, a fissured rock that allows the vines to penetrate deeply, with ideal thin topsoils of clay, with sand and gravel allowing good drainage.) The 2023 "Briords" is a beautiful young Muscadet, with a bit more grip and density than the previous few years. This superb granite-based wine belongs in your fridge and in your cellar, but don't be in a hurry to drink it. (Certified organic and Biodynamic)

Here is the recent review from Loire specialist Chris Kissack. "The famed Briords cuvée is sourced from older vines, aged between 60 and 70 years, but still planted on the domaine’s trademark granite. It is scheduled to be bottled in May. Finely powdered chalk on the nose here, with crushed white peach and green apple beneath. The palate is broad, textural and welcoming, with a supple and multilayered substance, featuring dessert apple, peach and chalk, cut with bright (and very welcome) acidity. I see good freshness and drive here, and a fine bitter and bright finish. This is a Briords with promise, and one of the better vintages (with cellaring potential) I have tasted in recent years, potentially on a par with the delightful 2017."
