Arnot-Roberts 2022 California Red Wine

This is a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc made in a throwback style inspired by some of the great California wines from decades past, before high extraction and copious amounts of new oak became the norm. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot come from Bedrock Vineyard in the Sonoma Valley, while a majority of the Cabernet Franc is from Persia Vineyard in Chalk Hill. It's a deep ruby in the glass with punchy dark cherry and subtle plum fruit that is vibrant but not overly ripe, while hints of graphite and pencil shavings make it reminiscient of some classic Bordeaux wines. The tannins are present but nicely integrated, while the acidity gives a long lingering finish that makes it an ideal companion with red meats. Drinking well now but could age another ten years easily.
