Vollenweider 2023 Riesling Wolfer Goldgrube Spätlese
Wolfer Goldgrube is a steep site with a large percentage of un-grafted vines, with south-west exposition, on grey slate with thin sections of red slate. Most of the Vollenweider wines are from this total 7-hectare Grand Cru vineyard. As always with the Vollenweider wines (even at the Spätlese level), the acidity is high here, but the wine is rich and textured without being weighty, with flavors of dried apricots, citron, orange blossom and green herbs make for a complex, cellar-worthy Spätlese!
From Mosel Fine Wines: "The wine shows a delicate juicy and smooth side on the palate, where fine creamy elements add to the overall suavity. The finish is velvety and very pure, and above all shows an animating freshness. This is a filigreed and refined Spätlese."
