Vollenweider 2023 Riesling Wolfer Goldgrube Kabinett 'Wurzelecht'
'Wurzelecht' is a special bottling from the Wolfer Goldgrube vineyard, made from only the oldest un-grafted vines, which are on average 100-120 years-old. This was a standout from a recent tasting of several wines from the Vollenweider lineup, shimmering with ripe fruit, a perfectly dense mid-palate, and a long finish. Though deligthful now, it should also age very well. -EL
From Mosel Fine Wines: "The wine proves airy and superbly well balanced, and has layers upon layers of flintstone, vineyard peach, and minty herbs. It comes over as relatively light, yet its complexity is just superb. The finish is very pure and airy, yet the length is stunning. What a splendid Kabinett!"
