Methode Sauvage Iruai 2023 Shasta-Cascade White
This is an interesting blend of Savagnin, Gruner Veltliner, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Savagnin Rose (aka Roter Traminer), inspired by high elevation Alpine whites of the Jura and Savoie regions. The fruit comes in part from the Shasta-Cascade region in northern California as well as the Siskiyou Wilderness in Oregon, making this a multi-state wine labeled simply as "American AVA." There is a rush of fresh pear fruit with hints of citrus and cooling herbs, with a saline core that lingers and keeps you reaching for more. The acidity is bracing and it's medium/light in body but full of flavor, making it a great companion to seafood or soft cheeses.
