Matin Calme 2022 Mano a Mano
I was recently chatting with a friend about Matin Calme. These wines were the original natty Languedoc wines, along with Axel Prufer's at Les Temps des Cerises, or the wines from Le Bout de Monde and Domaine de Possible. The labels have never changed, they're still that same relatively bland tannish brown, and the young wine buyers and drinkers in the city have no idea about this fantastic estate! Early proponents of carbonic maceration in a region that had never employed it, they produced, year after year, delightful, crunchy, brambly wines that tasted like the Languedoc but also had brightness and fresh energy. This Mano a Mano bottling is a prime example. Low ABV, a blend of Grenache and Carignan, worthy of a light chill. -EL
