Busch, Clemens 2018 Mosel Riesling GG Marienburg Rothenpfad Reserve

The Rothenpfad (Red Path) is a large parcel of iron and copper rich red slate. For those familiar with Busch's blue and gray slate GGs from the Marienburg proper, Fahrlay and Falkenlay, Rothenpfad is upstream from the others and provides the wine with an added dimension of richness and spiciness not found elsewhere. The 'Reserve' is a special release, aged for 2 years (minimum) on the lees, which has more structure and more aging potential age and could easily age for 20 years. Clemens calls 2018 a "great vintage, with great quantity and quality." There is a lovely and impressive ripeness on the nose, and a finish that never ends! -EL
