Germany's 2023 Vinum Wineguide just awarded our newest German producer from the Nahe "Winemaker of the Year" saying: “Gut Hermannsberg not only invested in buildings and vineyards, but above all in wine quality right from the start. The quality was at the highest ever, better than last year and reassured us to award “Winemaker of the Year” to cellar master Karsten Peter, who was able to seamlessly continue the outstanding performance of the previous year. Also, the Gutswein Riesling 7 Terroirs convinces with its typical minerality, a great wine for every day.” Although 7 Terroirs is sourced from all seven of the estate's vineyards, the base is from the younger vines of the acclaimed Kupfergrube (copper mine) vineyard. As per the winery's website: "The stony, mostly volcanic soils, in our vineyards give our wines a pronounced raciness, spice and minerality. 7 Terroirs is warm and spicy, yet racy and crisp due to a pungent smoky minerality and an intense grapefruit character that is part of the unique personality of the Kupfergrube." When we tasted it together, the staff concurred regarding the stony minerality and grapefruit profile with a very elegant and cool body. Excellent for an entry level wine! Giselle Hamburg
