Summer Blockbuster!!! Bruno Giacosa!!!! The Greatest Story Ever Told!!!

For a brief period we tried making a collection of text from various wine offers that we called the “hype of the week”. Man, is that dull work! Every producer is legendary, and every wine is stunning-the greatest-not to be missed-cult-blew me away-desert island-go long-insane-incredible-killer… Just thinking about how profound all of those wines are supposed to be is exhausting. I understand from real writers that writing’s not so easy; I certainly make no claim to be a writer. And when we want to communicate that we are offering something we feel very strongly about it makes me cringe to use any of those terms. So, what to say about Bruno Giacosa? Here goes: Giacosa’s wines have consistently provided some of my greatest wine experiences. They are legendary. They are stunning, not to be missed, the wine of the night, sometimes the wine of a lifetime. They are expensive (but not when compared to their French equivalents – have you seen the prices for Grand Cru Burgundy recently?), and I suppose that most people who buy them have already had an experience with Giacosa that gives them the confidence to buy the wines. Hype may not help, but it’s safe to say that if you want to taste legendary greatness, this is your chance. Jamie Wolff
