Quick interruption to the CSW Awards - Clos Roche Blanche 2006 Gamay
12/19/2007 -
(Catherine and Didier)
Why, may you ask, are we interrupting our shamefully self-promoting awards season? That's an easy one. To give another award, of course. This award was not planned but just kind of happened. The award that goes to the Best Wine I Tasted While Doing The CSW Awards and it is the 2006 Clos Roche Blanche Gamay. This has always been a favorite among the geek crowd. The 2002 remains and internet wine board legend. Why is this wine such a legend. I mean this is almost as legendary as 1985 Henri Jayer Richebourg or 1938 Krug! First and foremost this is a wine of place. Yet it also has amazing concentration, purity of fruit, a striking mineral backbone and wonderful delineation of flavors. Oh yeah, now I remember why it's an internet sensation, it's $12.99! Cheaper by the case and this stuff ages for around 5-7 years. The 2006 is definitely the best since the legendary 2002. One day, with further aging, it might surpass that legend. Oh yeah, Catherine and Didier are awesome people and you should support them this holiday season by buying vast quantities of this wine. It will bring you holiday cheer for sure. Sorry to be brief but we are all wrapping presents
