The vines are well-placed in mid-slope and are mostly sixty years-old, giving the most "generous" of the three Lafouge premier crus. The soils here are partially "marnes blanches" which seems to contribute to the more supple and elegant style of wines from this site. "The 2023 la Chapelle from Domaine Lafouge is equally superb. (to Les Duresses) This shows its customary more red fruity-centric aromatics and flavor spectrum, wafting from the glass in an excellent blend of red and black cherries, red plums, raw cocoa, gamebird, a fine base of chalky soil tones, violets and cedar. On the palate the wine is pure, complex and full, with fine depth at the sappy core, lovely soil signature and grip, seamless tannins and a very long, pure and soil-driven finish. Fine, fine juice in the making." La Chapelle is always enoyable young, but of course best to wait 5 years, then enjoy until 2045.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0602/3790/6145/files/Lafouge_JeanetGilles2022Auxey-Duresses1erCruLaChapelle-FB.jpg?v=1770233945
https://chambersstwines.com/products/lafouge-jean-et-gilles-2022-auxey-duresses-1er-cru-la-chapelle-1
