The Saint-Joseph vines (all Syrah of course) are in Limony, on thin granite soils, and are 25 to 50 years old. Shallow plowing (\"griffage\") is done in the summer, with rye and clover growing between the rows in winter. The grapes are 80% de-stemmed, fermentations are with wild yeasts, aging is in old barrels. The 2024 Saint-Joseph shows elegant aromas of blackberry and blueberry, quite floral, with hints of citrus, herbs and spice, a bit brighter than the 2022 and 2023. The palate shows earthy black fruits with the true northern Rhone Syrah flavors that we love, with citrus and mineral notes, nicely balanced and finishing with terrific length and firm acidity. This will pair well with roast chicken, lamb and pork dishes and will improve for three to five years in the bottle.
