Barbichette 2022 Le Rouge

This is a blend of De Chaunac, a hybrid grape found throughout parts of eastern North America and some Cabernet Franc. It's made with whole clusters foot stomped into concrete egg, macerated over ten days and pressed into large cask. It's a deep red/violet in the glass and has loads of bright wild berry fruit with a savory, mineral streak that all intermingle seamlessly. It's juicy enough to enjoy on its own but has the acid structure and depth to play nice with food. If you want to be convinced that hybrid grapes can be every bit as "serious" and compelling as vitis vinifera, this is a must try.
