Fermentation with pigeage in vat, malo in barrique, aging in large barrels on the lees for one year, minimal SO2 added before bottling. 14% alcohol, aging potential 10 to 15 years. The nose is unmistakably Aunis, with this combination of wild cherry, red currant \u0026amp; crushed strawberry, black and pink peppercorn, fern, citrus and rose. The palate is dense and very chalky with ripe plum and peppery black cherry with savory undertones of fennel, caraway and brown spice. The tanins are chalky, the gentle aging in older barrels making them more velvety, but always there in the texture, with vibrant acidity, limestone and dense red fruits in the very long finish. 2022 is a great vintage for Loire reds and the Rouge Gorge showed beautifully tasted in Angers in Feb. 2026. These old vines on flinty clay soils, rich in tuffeau (soft limestone), yield a maximum of 25 hl\/ha. The fruit is direct-pressed and barrel-fermented with native yeasts and minimal sulfur; the 2022 was aged for 20 months on the lees in mostly 1-to-3-year old 500L barrels. Each parcel is vinified and aged separately and blended before bottling. VV Éparses tends to be the most dry, powerful and structured of the Bellivière line-up - it's one of the most distinctive Chenins of the Loire. In the sunny 2022 vintage the wine has about 7 gr\/l RS - still dry but with beautifully voluptuous aromatics and with gorgeous, complex exotic fruits on the palate mingling with the great terroir expression always present in this wine.
