Bedrock 2023 Papera Ranch Heritage
From Bedrock: "The 2023 Papera Ranch Heritage comes from vines planted in 1934 in the Piner-Olivet part of the Russian River Valley. Composed of 13 different varieties, but predominately Zinfandel and Carignan, the fruit was picked on October 9th with all the varieties co-fermented in a single tank. It was clear from the start that this was going to be a special Papera Ranch—and that is saying something as the vineyard is one of the most consistent we work with, vintage after vintage. Deeply colored with soaring perfume and aromatics, this is both dense and fresh, showcasing the racy blue and red fruits that occur when RRV Zin melds with vibrant and crunchy Carignan fruit. Though not without structure, this wine, like many of those grown on clay soils, has a certain level of pliancy and up-front richness that will allow for pleasurable nearer-term drinking (with a decant) for those looking for amplified fruit. That said, even the 2012 Papera is still drinking quite well, so I am sure it will have an extended window for those looking for a more mellow experience."
