Can Majoral was the first certified organic estate in Mallorca, and they are among a small group of winemakers who are passionate about preserving local varieties. This medium-full bodied red is primarily made from the Callet grape, which is indigenous to Mallorca (it's possibly a cross between two other indigenous grapes, but the DNA is unique). The rest of the wine is filled out with Syrah, Tempranillo and Montanegro. Though I usually prefer fresh light bodied reds, there are times when the mood calls for something a bit more supple and generous, with black fruit and richness. Butibalausi delivers just that, and with so much elegance and finesse! The tannins are very integrated and subtle, making this a very easy wine to drink, even though it is ripe and full bodied.
