Isabel Coiffier and Jeremy Decoster started making wines in the Savoie after working with the likes of Alice & Olivier De Moor and Lilian Duplessis in Chablis. Though they didn't settle in Chablis, there is a precision and linear quality to their wines that mirrors the styles of their mentors. 'Brisure' is a blend of Chardonnay, Roussette (Altesse), and direct press Gamay, and has a slightly peachy hue in the glass, but behaves on all accounts like a white wine. On the nose, there are classic white Savoie notes of stone fruit (white apricot), and dried herbs. There is a ripe mouthfeel, with a subtle nutty character in the mid-palate, and plenty of minerals and chalkiness in the finish. There is also a touch of structure and very subtle red fruit (cranberry essence) from the Gamay. Considering this is Isabel and Jeremy's first official vintage, we'll surely have many years of good wine to look forward to from Les Cortis! -EL
