Richard Dal Canto makes lovely wines in the hills south of Avignon on terroir of clay/limestone, from organic farming and vinified as naturally as possible. Grapes are havested by hand and ferment with wild yeasts. The 2017 "Venino" was made from Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet and Grenache, vinified and bottled without SO2. The shows a very dark red/black color with bright hints, with very ripe armas of blackberry and blueberry - really showing the Syrah - with cassis and black cherry as well, wth hints of citrus and licorice. There is bright acidity and a bit of tannin on the palate beneath dense black cherry and blackberry liqueur, quite sappy and dense with hints of bitter chocolate and cocoa.
