This is the last vintage for Catherine and Didier at the Clos Roche Blanche. They have been important catalysts for organic farming and natural vinifications in the Loire Valley and beyond. With their intelligence, good humor and beautiful wines they made friends all over America and have been of great importance to us at Chambers Street both personally and professionally. This wine, the Touraine Sauvignon Blanc, was our biggest seller when we opened Chambers Street - now it is allocated to stores and restaurants across the country so while we may have less to sell it remains a sentimental favorite, and this last vintage is a worthy and delicious good-bye to all of their customers. The wine shows lovely aromas of pear liqueur, citrus, spice, lime-flower and stone with a hint of yeast. The palate is dense with ripe pear, lemon zest and minerals with a firm long finish of white fruits and saline acids. Youthful and delicious now, this will benefit from five to ten years of aging, or even more. Put some history in your cellar! Thank you Catherine and Didier!
