Please join us on Wenesday, March 14th as Tessa Laroche comes to Chambers Street Wines for a book signing and tasting, followed by a dinner and tasting at Racines, with author/sommelier Pascaline Lepeltier in attendance. In this book, "Domaine aux Moines, A Year at the Domaine, in the Loire Valley," you will learn about the annual work of the Domaine with Tessa Laroche and her team; from the time when the grapes are picked to the moment when the wine is bottled, from pruning to debudding and tying up the vines through photographs by Hélène de Fontainieu and the expert writing of Pascaline Lepeltier, It will also give pride of place to Chenin, a type of wine that expresses its true splendor here in this terroir of volcanic rock and gritty schist. (The book and wines listed below will arrive on March 14th)
Join us at the store from 5 until 7pm as Tessa Laroche will sign your copy of this beautiful book, and will pour for us her 1998 Savennières Roche aux Moines as well as current vintages.
At 7pm (or shortly after!) Tessa Laroche will be joined by Master Sommelier (and Racines NY Partner) Pascaline Lepeltier for a superb dinner at Racines NY, created by Racines Executive Chef Eric Korsh, to accompany the beautiful wines of Domaine aux Moines. We'll enjoy a vertical tasting of Savennières-Roche aux Moines as well as special cuvees brought by Tessa Laroche for this event. A limited number of seats are available, $130 all inclusive.
This is a superb Savennières-Roche aux Moines, reminding me a bit of the old-fashioned style with it's intriguing herbal, honeyed white fruit aromas. The palate shows the more modern style, with lovely ripeness of white fruits, pear and quince, backed by firm acidity and the wonderful stony mineral character of Savennières, with terrific length. This is a fascinating wine and highly recommended. David Lillie
