Without question, Turley Wine Cellars produce some of California’s most impressive and iconic Zinfandels.
Since Dr. Larry Turley started the winery in 1993, the estate's commitment to old vine and single-vineyard Zinfandel has produced wines of geographical distinction, layered concentration and remarkable intensity. The Juvenile (a blend of younger Zinfandel vines planted on several old vine sites) has been a perennial favorite with Chambers Street Wines customers. Single-vineyard designates like Lodi's Kirschemann Vineyard (Mokelumne River AVA) and Napa Valley Rattlesnake Ridge (Howell Mountain AVA) have been personal highlights at their New York distributor's tastings over the years. Notwithstanding, Turley Wine Cellars has also been an incubator of California winemaking talent: from Helen Turley’s initial consultation for the winery in the mid-1990s, to Ehren Jordan (currently at Failla Wines and Day Zinfandel) and current winemaker and vineyard manager Tegan Passalacqua.
We've been fortunate to come across a selection of back vintage Turleys from the early 2000s to the present day. Their commitment to proper farming (all vineyards are certified organic or are currently undergoing conversion) and dedication to heritage, old vine sites reinforce their prominence as ambassadors of California's winemaking tradition and future.
