Kracher 2017 Burgenland Cuvee Auslese 375 ml

60% Welschriesling and 40% Chardonnay, fermented and matured for 11 months in stainless steel tanks. Medium yellow with green highlights. Aromas of freshly cut quince and fig lead to a lovely, finely textured palate, showing good volume of flavour with a succulent mandarin and passionfruit edge adding vibrancy. Finishes with excellent length and refreshing acidity. A delightful dessert wine.

Sorry, the Following have Already Sold

Boggione, Claudio 2016 Barolo Brunate

The 2016 Brunate is super-aromatic, hitting Nebbiolo’s typical indicators of bright cherry fruit, rose, rich earth/clay/limestone, some balsalm and minty notes; the wine develops even more complexity with air. To me it sings Brunate – that is, a wine with evident power and a serious nature, but also austerely elegant, and balanced between power and finesse without any strain or obvious effort. This is a classic wine that will repay some years in the cellar, but on day 1 it was very good, on day 2 excellent, and on the third day quite spectacular. This may not be the most practical schedule for home drinking, but pouring into a decanter or pitcher in the morning will yield a similar result by dinner time!I can’t resist pointing out that for a Barolo Brunate of this quality the price is very reasonable. Roagna 2013 Langhe Rosso (Nebbiolo)

This is a spectacular bottle, multiples better than most Barolo or Barbaresco. I’m going to keep a few bottles for the long term, but it’s absolutely delicious now. Beautifully transparent, complete, satisfying, and everything one could hope for in young Nebbiolo. Made in the same manner as the Barolo and Barbarescos - 60 day macerations, etc. Jamie Wolff

Adam, A.J. 2012 Mosel Riesling Dhroner Hofberg Spätlese

The vines in the Hofberg that go into this Spätlese are 53 years old. There's a good deal of sweetness, but it's sliced through by a whopping 9.3 g/l acid. Not as Baroque and bombsatic as some vintages of Adam Spätlese, but this is, without a doubt, a wine to put down and age for many years. Right now it's showing aromas of cool melon, pear and green apple. It's truly a big step up from the Kabinett as far as concentraction, length, and acid, so much acid. Perhaps this is just characteristic for cool-vintage Adam, or perhaps he's tightening up the style? -jfr

Enderle and Moll 2017 Baden Pinot Noir 'a Trois'

As the name would suggest, this cuvée is a blend of their three 'Grand Cru' sites: Ida, Muschelkalk, and Buntsandstein. Very limited production and in past vintages, a wine to cellar. Cari Bernard

Enderle and Moll 2017 Baden Pinot Noir 'Buntsandstein'

Also old vines (some up to 60ish years in age) planted on the other predominate soil type of Baden, colored sandstone (red/brown). Buntsandstein can often lead to a bolder type of structure and intensity, in contrast to the Muschelkalk. Cari Bernard

Enderle and Moll 2017 Baden Pinot Noir 'Liaison'

'Liaison' is from 45 to 50-year-old vines planted on both Muschelkalk (shell limestone) and Buntsandstein (colored sandstone) and is a beautiful example of the elegant coupling of these two terroirs. A beguiling nose of stone, crushed strawberries and red florals, the palate is radiant with red cherries, strawberries, blood orange, and a hint of tart red currant. This makes us very excited for the rest of the line-up of this vintage! Cari Bernard

Enderle & Moll 2018 Baden Spätburgunder Rosé

One of my favorite vintages of this wine to date, a delightful Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) rosé to pair with all sorts of foods, including heartier winter fare. Simply delicious when first opened, the palate just gets brighter and juicier as the wine takes air. Scents of roses, red cherries and cranberries leap out of the glass, the palate has an almost crystalline freshness, with vibrant red florals, blood orange, crunchy pomegranate seeds, and wild strawberries on the finish. Stein, Ulli 2017 Mosel Cabernet Sauvignon 'vom Berg'

Would you like to enjoy what may be the best $50 Cabernet in New York and support the folks in California recovering from the devastating wildfires? Then please read below:

As a joke, in the late 1980s Ulrich Stein planted only a few rows of Cabernet Sauvignon, high up in his Grand Cru Palmberg vineyard. The point was, almost more than anything else, to annoy the German wine authorities and to push the boundaries of what was "acceptable" in the Mosel. Over 20 years later, as a result of the dramatic changes in the climate, the vines are now ripening fully and the wine is layered and powerful. It remains, of course, very much a cool-climate wine, with blue fruit more than ripe red fruit, all wrapped tightly around an assertive, mineral and tannic frame. The 2017 is one of Stein's greatest; a fascinating example of one of the most extreme "mountain Cabernets" in the world. Stein has reserved this wine for us, for America, at a massive discount so that all the money raised will go directly to help the wine communities so affected by the devastating fires. Drink Mosel Cabernet; support CA!
