Clos de Mont Olivet 2006 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Papet
(70-80% Grenache, 100 years-old, 35 year-old Mourvedre and Syrah. 10 months in concrete, 7-8 months in large barrels, unfined, unfiltered.) One of the top wines of the vintage, in very limited quantities. Traditional winemaking but with polished tannins and "crowd-pleasing" fruit. "A highly perfumed, exotic bouquet displays red and dark berry preserves, licorice, cracked pepper and smoky indian spices: quite dense and masculine for this normally graceful cuvee. Stains the palate with floral and candied berry qualities. The tannins are buried by the wine's sweet fruit. There is harmony in this big, confident wine, which will be a real pleaser around 2015 and onwards." JR/JLL
Jaboulet 2018 Hermitage La Chapelle
This wine is a 100% Syrah grape. Hermitage La Chapelle is a blend of terroirs, including the prestigious hillsides of Meal and Bessards. Each one provides its own aromatic characteristics. 40-60+ year old vines from the granite soils of Les Bessards and the limestone of Le Méal on the Hermitage hill – a magical combination of terroir. Completely converted to biodynamics in 2006. Incredibly low yields of 15-20 hl/ha. Aged in French oak (20% new)
Pégaü 1998 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Reservée
18.5 hectares under vines. Reservee is Grenache 85%, Syrah 9%, Mourvedre 4%, and 2% others. Aging is 18 months in large old barrels; the wine is bottled unfiltered.
