These are some of our favorite "real" rosés - each one is from certified organic or Biodynamic farming on small family estates and is vinified with indigenous yeasts, giving wines with subtle, natural aromas and flavors. You'll find earth and mineral notes in the finish, making them superb food wines as well as delicious and refreshing aperitifs. And remember, as Eric Asimov says "a rosé can bloom in winter as well" - enjoy them all year round!
Please note - your Extra 10% off will be added when processed and will only appear on your final invoice. Yes, you may include non-sale items in your order but they will not receive the extra 10% off. Offer valid 8/9 and 8/10 on case purchases only. The wines are in stock in our store or warehouse, please allow until Friday 8/12 for pick-up or shipping.
We've always loved Eric's rather full-bodied rosé, made from Grenache, Carignan and Syrah, but this year he decided to make a lighter, fresher wine from Grenache Gris and Grenache Noir and it's really delicious! it shows a pretty, pale pink color with subtle aromas of rose and raspberry. The palate is fresh, light and round with lovely red and yellow fruit flavors, quite crisp and long. This is a complex, refreshing and delicious rosé and a sensational value! David Lillie
(Arrives 9/21) This delightful Chinon Rosé comes from Patrick Lambert's 6 hectares of organic vines in Cravant, around the corner from his friend and mentor, Bernard Baudry. Hand harvested from 20-year-old Cabernet Franc vines on gravel and sandy clay soils over limestone. The 2020 shows lovely aromas of wild strawberry and raspberry, citrus and rose; the palate is silky and ripe with raspberry, cherry, citrus and stone flavors with nice density and texture, with juicy acids, berry flavors and saline minerals in the finish. This is drinking beautifully now (August 2022) and through the winter. This is a fabulous value and highly recommended.(Note: Some bottles have naturally occuring tartrate crystals which disappear when chilled and have no effect on flavor)
50 years of organic farming and great traditional winemaking give this refreshing, perfectly balanced rosé from our friend Stephane Guion in Bourgueil. The wine shows bright strawberry/raspberry aromas with citrus, rose and earth. Raspberry, blood orange, melon and earthy flavors on the bone-dry palate which is framed in firm acidity and saline minerals. This is a real rosé of terroir, dry and balanced with moderate alcohol which needs a bit of time to open up. Drink now and through 2024, with grilled tuna, roast chicken, grilled pork and charcuterie.
This elegant rosé, is 100% Cabernet Franc from one of the top organic estates in Saumur-Champigny. The wine shows a pretty light pink/orange color and subtle aromas of ripe raspberry, peach and red currant. The palate is light and silky but with nice density of berry fruits that linger in the sapid finish with citrus and mineral notes. Really a nice wine in the style of the Baudry Chinon and a sensational value at $14.99.
The young Pablo Hocht makes beautiful wines at his Biodynamic estate in Seguret (southern Rhone) - his "Rosé du Coucou" is a refreshing direct-press rosé made with old vines of 60% Grenache and 40% Cinsault. The 2021 shows a very pale rose skin color with floral aromas of raspberry, peach, citrus and stone. The palate is very light, silky and elegant with subtle raspberry fruit with hints of melon, orange rind, spice and earth, finishing with nice length of mineral flavors and refreshing acidity. This is a very lovely wine at a great price!
The Cuvée "L'Aubigue" is a beautifully supple and fruit-driven rosé made from 54% Cinsault, 22% Grenache, 11% Syrah, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Vermentino. The wine shows a beautiful salmon color and offers complex aromas of peach skins, wild flowers, brown spice, and grapefruit pith. The palate is round and refreshing with a dense mineral core. Flavors of peach, strawberry, and nectarine coalesce over cool herbal notes akin to licorice. The finish is suave and awash with citrus and stone. A wonderfully versatile wine, this is lovely to sip by itself and will be a seriously delicious pairing with salads, full-flavored fish dishes, chicken and grilled pork all summer and all year...
Domaine Turenne, northeast of Bandol in Provence, produces this lovely rosé from 40% Cinsault, 50% Grenache and 10% Syrah, certified organic. The terroir is a unique bed of limestone and sandstone debris with small stones called "Gavroches" which bring a pronounced minerality and good drainage to the vines. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented with wild yeasts. The 2021 "Camille" is a pretty, very pale pink/orange color with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, rose and citrus, with a hint of stone fruits as well. The palate is light and elegant with subtle berry fruits, a hint of citrus and stone, and has nice density and length. This is a light and lovely rosé for all year enjoyment, sipped by itself or with grilled fish, white meats, salade Niçoise and mild cheeses - and it's a fabulous value!
Domaine Turenne makes a tiny quantity of this 100% Grenache rosé - it's a taste of "old Provence" says Philippe Bénézet, simple but delicious, showing pretty flavors of raspberry and strawberry, it's medium-bodied and very dry with a refreshing finish. At $13.99 it's a sensational value. Only 10 cases for the US!
The new Peybonhomme "Rosita Bomba" is a delicious direct-press rosé made from Biodynamic Cab Franc and Merlot grapes grown in the clay/limestone soils at Peybonhomme-les-Tours. This lovely wine is bone dry, with pretty red currant and raspberry fruit, quite vibrant and refreshing.
